EDNA ARNOW (1921-2013) was a well-known Chicago area studio potter and sculptor who received early instruction from Leah Balsham at The Art Institute of Chicago, but was otherwise largely self taught.  For more than 40 years, Arnow made stoneware pottery in the basement of her house in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side, where she started out on a wheel that her husband Robert made for her using an old washing machine.

In the 1950s, Arnow was part of the important artist collective 'Exhibit A Gallery', together with Earl Hooks, Leo Segedin, Eve Garrison, Frank Petersen, and Tristan Meinecke.  She also exhibited her work at The Art Institute of Chicago, at The Chicago Public Library, and at the Ceramic Nationals in Syracuse, New York in 1956 and in 1962.  Edna was friends with most of the local independent craftsmen. She participated in local organizations, meetings and events to promote the cause, and she was a regular fixture at many craft fairs in the city.  The Wells Street & 57th Street Art Fairs were her favorite venues as well as others including, South Side, Evanston and Oak Park.  For some 30 odd years, she and her husband, Robert - who also made pottery, but worked as a Chicago policeman - spent most weekends during the summer, packing up their Pontiac station wagon with functional pottery to sell at art fairs around the city and suburbs.  She became a well known presence, always wearing a large hat, and became renowned for her owl sculptures.  She ultimately gained a reputation across the Midwest as a well-known and respected craftswoman and proponent of the Midwest craft scene.

While her work varies in style, it never drifts far from a strong mid century modern craft pottery aesthetic. She was a great innovator in form, design, and surface glaze treatments, having developed many distinctive textured glazes and clay bodies.  at a later point of her life, she became motivated to create modern sculpture, and became famous amongst collectors of 20th Century Modern Art. Her work has been displayed in major galleries and museums throughout the midwest, and is held in several important private and corporate collections.

In 2001 she hosted a gallery show in North Carolina celebrating 50 years of her work as well as her 80th birthday.  In May 2012 she was featured in an article by The Studio Potter Archive Blog. Good product. My dog is very entertained and stimulated by playing with it.
Color: Green, Size: Small (2.0 in, Pack of 2)
I'M AMENDING THIS REVIEW AND ADJUSTING THE RATING UPWARD! Though it took my dog a little while to adjust to how differently this ball behaves, HE LOVES IT NOW. I wish I could give you a sense of how enjoyable and comically entertaining it is to play with him using it. ORIG. REVIEW: Bought this for a little 8 lb. aggressive chewer who loves to play fetch. I initially bought the 2" Chuckit! Ultra ball previously. It is the most amazingly durable product I've found for this pup. Very firm, but not hard on his teeth. He's very quick and agile, so I thought he would like the eye-mouth coordination challenge of a ball that changes direction suddenly. I guess my only disappointment with the product is that the ball is hollow instead of having a solid core like the Ultra ball, so he doesn't enjoy chomping down on it the same way. The erratic bounce feature is entertaining, but the pup is a little skittish, so he was intimidated at first. He's warmed up to it, but not with the same enthusiasm as the Ultra ball. Having said all this, I don't fault the product for the rating I gave it. It is a quality-made product that performs as advertised. I just didn't anticipate that my dog would be less enthusiastic than I thought.

Highly entertained golden retriever!
Color: Green, Size: Large (3.0 in, Pack of 1), Color: Green, Size: Large (3.0 in, Pack of 1)
My golden retriever spends hours chasing this ball. Its erratic bounce pattern keeps him engaged and guessing where to chase the ball. It is durable and stands up to chewing well.

Great quality ball
Color: Green, Size: Medium (2-1/2 in (Pack of 2))
The product is great no issues. It’s very durable. All of this brands products are strong and durable. The only reason I gave it a four star is I think my dogs prefer more the blue round balls. So that being said, I won’t buy these anymore, but they love the blue ones whether they’re the recycled or not. Great company!
