The constant f2.8 aperture provides predictable exposure and creative control across the entire zoom range. This is especially valuable in changing light conditions or when maintaining a consistent look during video recording. Optical performance is refined for high resolution sensors, delivering excellent sharpness across the frame, controlled distortion and minimal chromatic aberration. Contrast and colour reproduction remain strong, even when shooting wide open.
The Mark II version improves handling and durability while maintaining a familiar balance on Micro Four Thirds camera bodies. The housing is fully dust, splash and freeze resistant, allowing confident use in demanding environments such as rain, cold or dusty locations. Good finish, poor hardware.
Set screws are poor quality and are sometimes powdercoated on the exposed threads. Leads to striped hex sockets and inability to tighten properly.
Durable finish as evidenced by no visible damage after throwing parts across the shop in frustration.
Ended up running self tapping screws thru parts to complete assembly.
