In MX vs. ATV Untamed worden acht verschillende offroad racestijlen gecombineerd zoals SuperMoto, Opencross, Supercross, Waypoint en Endurocross. Opencross is een outdoorevenement waarin je dwars door moerassen, ruige rivieren en woestijnduinen kunt scheuren. Naast motors en quads spelen duinbuggies, trophy trucks, sandrails, ORV's, golfkarts en zelfs monster trucks een hoofdrol. De buitenomgevingen zijn groot en de races duren daardoor lang. De parkoersen bevatten bovendien allerlei shortcuts, waardoor de races afwisselender worden.
