Deze millefiori-kraal, Italiaans voor ‘duizend bloemen’, is volledig met de hand gemaakt en komt uit Venetië. Mellefiori is een methode waarbij glas- of kleikralen met behulp van stokjes een reeks patronen krijgen. Mellefiori, een soort Muranoglas, staat ook bekend als Murrine.
De Murano-kralenindustrie bloeide aan het einde van de 19e eeuw dankzij de toegenomen handel met het Afrikaanse continent.
