Afkomstig uit de wijngaard Castel de Fornos, die gelegen is in de subzone Val do Salnés in de regio Rías Baixas in Galicië. De wijngaard ligt in het dorpje Fornos, op een heuvel tussen de dorpen Cambados en Ribadumia. De bodem is stenig, met graniet, klei en zand. De wijngaard ligt zeer dicht bij zee, op een zeer lage hoogte boven zeeniveau (60 meter) en heeft daardoor sterke maritieme invloeden vanuit de Atlantische Oceaan. De wijngaard is op het zuiden gericht. De wijngaard is in terrasvorm aangelegd (ook wel ‘castel’ genoemd) en alle wijnstokken worden volgens pergola’s omhoog geleid, zodat de wind goed door de wijngaarden kan waaien.

Bodegas Chaves is een familiebedrijf dat wijnen maakt in de Spaanse wijnstreek Galicië. Galicië is uniek in Spanje omdat er vooral veel witte wijn wordt gemaakt. Chaves is het oudste wijnhuis van de appellatie Rías Baixas in Galicië. Al sinds 1955 maken ze zeer aantrekkelijke wijnen van Albariño. Daarnaast maakt Chaves onder de naam Silva Daponte verrassende wijnen uit andere regio’s in Galicië. In Monterrei worden frisse Godello en Mencía gemaakt. In Ribeiro wordt een kruidige Treixadura gemaakt.
