Emelten bestrijden met aaltjes
Emelten zijn het beste te bestrijden als deze nog klein zijn, dus in de eerste maanden nadat deze uit het ei zijn gekomen. Vandaar dat als vuistregel geldt: Het beste kunnen aaltjes 1 tot 2 maanden na de vlucht van de langpootmug worden toegepast. Indien niet bekend is wanneer de langpootmuggen te zien waren, dan kunnen de aaltjes het beste eind oktober worden ingezet. Tegen emelten van de koollangpootmug kunnen aaltjes ook goed in juli worden ingezet.
Steinernema carpocapsae (de aaltjes die je nu bekijkt) zijn het meest effectief tegen emelten. Maar als de bodemtemperatuur onder de 12°C komt, kan het beste Steinernema feltiae worden ingezet. De bodemtemperatuur is een gemiddelde van de dag- en nachttemperatuur.
