A live one-hour online class with eco printer and natural dye specialist Suzanne Tamar Dekel, for beginners who want to understand the basic steps of eco printing and botanical printing before diving in.

In this class, we will look at what eco printing actually is, how the technique works, and what materials you need to get started. We will cover the role of mordants: what they are, why they matter, and how they help plant color connect to fabric. We will also talk about which leaves are good choices for clear botanical prints, how to prepare your fabric, how to bundle your print, and what it means to “fix” or set your results.

This class is designed to give you a solid starting point, without overwhelming you with complicated recipes. You will learn the basic logic behind successful eco printing so you can begin with more confidence, avoid the most common beginner mistakes, and create clearer, more defined leaf prints.

The class will be live, with time for questions, and a replay will be available afterward.

You will learn:

  • what eco printing is and how it works
  • which basic materials you need
  • what mordants are and how to use them
  • which leaves are good for beginner prints
  • how to prepare your fabric
  • how to bundle and steam your print
  • how to improve clarity and definition
  • how to avoid muddy, unclear results
  • how to start testing in a simple, practical way

After the class there is a short Q&A session.

This is a live class and it will be recorded. Replay access will be available for 14 days for registered participants.

After signing up, you will receive instructions and a link to join our class LIVE and where to see the recording afterwards.

I was happy to discover Merwin's poetry.
Format: Paperback
Great collection of some of Merwin's early poetry. There's a mystical mysterious feel too a lot of his writing, which I like.

A Reading of "The Last One"
Format: Paperback
This poem represents Merwin at his insidious best, the conversational tone of the poem slowly leading to something imminently and undefinably dark, doom-laden. The poem was originally published in "The Lice" a book of poems written in the French countryside where, Merwin says, "I felt at once a profound attraction to the rural world in which I was living and a disquieting recognition of the fragility and uncertainty of my relation to it." "The Last One" ominously conveys that disquiet.
