Antique Heavy Intaglio Fob Pendant; Circa 1880Vibrant in hue and buttery in tone, this Victorian fob seal is a rich jewel from history. Once a gentleman's watch chain fob, these are now cherished for their use as unique pendants. Set into a heavy and ornate fob setting we have a hand carved intaglio. Vibrant in hue and buttery in tone, this Victorian fob seal is a rich jewel from history. Once a gentleman's watch chain fob, these are now cherished for their use as unique pendants.
Set into a heavy and ornate fob setting we have a hand carved intaglio. A faceted amethyst glass, the colour and setting means it has an intense glow and sparkle in the light. Into this has been carved an eagle emerging from a crown above a set of initials. A sort after motif, especially with the crown which can indicate a royal connection.
Dating to the Victorian era the main body is made from gold cased base metals with some gold setting above, as expected from a fob of this era. The metal is a rich buttery gold colour.
