This Vintage Turkish Kilim Runner Rug measures  6ft 2 in x 1 ft 5 in  (188 cms x 46 cms) Originally intended for daily family use as a Bestik (baby cradle) or a donkey/camel/storage bag, this tribal nomadic weaving has been opened up and repurposed for use as a floor rug or wall hanging. It is a handmade, Vintage Wool, Flat-Weave and Cicim / Soumak Kilim Rug, made in Far South Eastern Turkey by Tribal Weavers up to 60 years ago. Cicim (embroidered) and Soumak (also known as “warp-wrapped” weavings), Rugs are highly appreciated for their finely woven, textured or “embroidered” structure and linear / geometric patterns and designs. Cicims and Soumaks are not reversible and, often, one directional. Due to the structure of the weaving, these rugs may benefit from the use of a rug pad or non-slip underlay to prevent movement on smooth surfaces or in high traffic areas.
