De EarthQuaker Devices Scrolls Bass Odyssey is het middelpunt van je signaalchain. Waar de meeste bassisten genoegen nemen met een compressor en een overdrive, biedt de Scrolls iets fundamenteel anders: een volledig analoog preamp- en DI-platform dat je toon van Motown-warmte naar metalen agressie stuurt, met één druk op de knop. Dit is geen gewoon effectpedaal, maar een serieus stuk gereedschap voor de bassist die zijn geluid volledig in eigen hand wil houden.

De Scrolls combineert analoge speakerkabinetsimulatie met een flexibele signaalrouting en een krachtig EQ-kanaal dat het volledige toonspectrum van de bas dekt. Het resultaat is een organisch, levend geluid dat digitale amp-modelers zelden evenaren. De preamp reageert op de dynamiek van je spel en geeft je bas de ruimte en het karakter die het verdient, of je nu fingerstyle speelt, met een plectrum aanvalt of slapt. De kabinetsimulatie klinkt overtuigend genoeg om direct de PA of studio in te gaan, zonder versterker.

De Scrolls beschikt over analoge elektronica geïnspireerd op de ZEQD-Pre, met flexibele in- en uitgangsopties voor zowel podium als studio. De DI-uitgang maakt de Scrolls tot een complete oplossing voor de bassist die zonder versterker wil optreden of opnemen. De bediening is overzichtelijk maar veelzijdig, met een EQ-sectie die ver genoeg reikt om elk genre te bedienen. Beschikbaar in een gelimiteerde oplage, want EarthQuaker Devices bouwt dit soort instrumenten niet in massa.

Glowy but not sure about the spf

My first impression was that this works more like a basic body shimmer than anything else. The Glistening Bronze shade gives a noticeable glow, especially on arms and shoulders. It spreads easily and adds a warm shimmer in the light, but the overall effect feels pretty simple and more cosmetic than skincare focused. In use, the oil blends in smoothly and feels lightweight on the skin. It does leave a bit of moisture behind, similar to a light body oil, and the shimmer shows up well outdoors. The bronze tone is fairly deep, so it seems better suited for medium to darker skin tones or anyone who wants a stronger bronzed glow. The product mentions SPF 45, but there is very little information about the sun protection side of it, so I personally treat this more like a shimmer oil than a sunscreen.
