Best space & place
Laurus nobilis (botanical name) are happy in full sun to part shade and can grow up to 7.5m tall unless clipped. They flower in Spring.
When to water & feed
Bay in pots like good draining soil and to stay moist in Summer but the roots should not sit in water as this will lead to rot. In winter reduce watering.
Bay planted in the ground will need watering for the first growing season but once established they will draw all the water they need from rainfall.
Need to know
Generally hardy to -5°C (23°F) but can withstand lower temperatures in sheltered positions. Bay is hardier when planted in the ground.
