Description:

    • With the components of the 8100 Ultegra series, Shimano offers you an excellent price-performance ratio. You can see the Japanese company's years of experience in every detail. Whether functionality, durability or weight, top values are achieved everywhere. Shimano is also revolutionizing Di2 components with this top groupset. From now on, shifting commands are transmitted without cables. The wireless technology with the transmission protocol developed exclusively for this purpose guarantees you the fastest shifting operations that are currently possible in the bicycle sector. To make the rear derailleur and front derailleur as compact and streamlined as possible, these components are still connected to the new internal BT-DN300 battery via an E-Tube cable.

Ultegra Di2 shift lever ST-R8170 set and BR-R8170 flat mount disc brake set
One push of a button and the gears are engaged quickly and reliably. The precise pressure point of the levers ensures that the gear changes are only triggered when the rider consciously shifts gears. Accidental operation is not to be feared. The wireless chip also scores points for its low energy consumption. The CR1632 button cell has a service life of over 1.5 years. This system is fully customizable with the Shimano E-Tube app. This allows the shifting logic to be adapted to the rider's preferences. Among other things, the shifting speed can be set, a fully or semi-synchronous shifting mode can be selected and the program buttons on the lever can be assigned specific functions.
When braking, SERVO WAVE technology gives you optimum control over your bike at all times. This offers unparalleled modulation and sufficient power. But it's not just the inner values that are impressive. The ergonomics have also been significantly improved. The grip recess is better shaped and the rounded brake levers lie securely under your fingers even on long descents. The grip width can also be individually adjusted. The completely redesigned ULTEGRA BR-R8170 brake caliper enriches the world of road bikes with a new level of control, optimized modulation and unprecedented braking power. The new design minimizes brake rubbing. In addition, despite its compact size, this system is quieter and easier to maintain than ever before.

      FC-R8100 2x crankset
The Ultegra FC-R8100 crank not only converts your pedal power into propulsion, with its high rigidity it also ensures extremely fast and precise shifting. The high shifting precision is supported by the optimized chainring design. In order to keep the weight low, the Japanese continue to rely on the proven Hollowtech II design of the crank arms. The crank is available in gear ratios of 52-36 teeth and 50-34 teeth and with crank arm lengths of 160 to 175 millimetres.

      Rear derailleur RD-R8150 Di2 Shadow
The compact Ultegra 8150 rear derailleur delivers lightning-fast yet precise shifting. Even under medium and high loads, thanks to the low profile design and Shimano Shadow+ technology, gears are changed quickly and without major noise development. There is no noisy clunking or rattling with these high-tech components! Despite its slim dimensions, the rear derailleur houses the battery charging port and the wireless mode button. With just one cage length, the rear derailleur shifts on cassettes from 11-30 teeth to 11-34 teeth, thus increasing the versatility of the top Japanese component group.

      FD-R8150 Di2 front derailleur
The Ultegra R8150 front derailleur is more compact than ever before and a real powerhouse. The front derailleur shifts absolutely seamlessly between the chainrings and performs its shifting operations with digital precision in all conditions. The reduced frontal contact surface has also made it possible to reduce air resistance.

      BT-DN300 internal battery
Integrated battery of the latest generation, which is recessed in the seat post or steerer tube. The internally routed cables give the road bike a tidy appearance. The integration of the battery into the frame also reduces the number of attachments that stand in the wind. The battery can remain in the bike for charging.

      CS-R8101 cassette
The revised CS-R8101 cassette makes shifting even faster and smoother. You can shift gears without hesitation even when exerting maximum force on climbs or sprinting to the finish line. This is made possible by a slightly optimized tooth profile.
Shimano also uses Hyperglide+ technology, which has proven itself in the off-road sector. This significantly reduces the time required for both upshifting and downshifting and, compared to conventional HG systems, enables smoother pedalling.
Despite the new design and the additional 12th sprocket, the CS-R8101 cassettes are also compatible with previous 11-speed Road freehub bodies.

      Ultegra chain | XT chain CN-M8100 12-speed
The CN-M8100 is characterized by its particularly smooth chain operation. This is not only noticeable when pedaling, but is also noticeable acoustically thanks to a 4db quieter drive. Thanks to a new chrome-plated surface in combination with the proven SIL-TEC coating, the service life of the chain has been kept at the same level as the M8000 chain, despite a smaller outer width.

Great scale, great price.
Size: EK6002
3 years in, this scale was well worth the $23 cost . Still works flawlessly. I use it multiple times per day for coffee and cooking. Honestly if it had been twice that much it would have been worth it. Partially because of the price point, I don't know if I could come up with a complaint if I had to give one.

Great addition to our coffee station.
Size: EK6002
Love it. It's accuracy might be a little fuzzy about measuring the last tenth of a gram, probably due to rounding. But it showed a difference when a single coffee bean was added. Easy to read. The removable pad makes it easier to clean. It fits right on my little coffee station. To be honest, I didn't read the instructions. It's fairly intuitive if you know how they are supposed to work. I like it.

Broken, after 1 week of use
Size: EK6002
Sorry but, no. Stopped working after less than 1 week of use. They pre-install cheap batteries. I used it for a few days but then It wouldn’t turn on so I switched them out with fresh ones. Now the start/stop button isn’t working. Discovered during an extraction…arg!! Don’t mess with me while performing my craft! lol. Build quality is poor. Don’t over handle it, yeah, that’s how fragile it appears to be. I like that it is light weight but so light, I question if the durability and weight factor are compromising the output accuracy. Doesn’t feel reliable at all. I also question if this is waterproof, again, having everything to do with build quality. This is not my first scale but it is for coffee use so I’m on the hunt for a better one. This was cheap in price, yes. But as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. One good thing that came out of this is, while it was working, I realized how much this was really needed for me to make exceptional and accurate espresso shots, so time to find a better one. I wanted this to work, I really did.

TLDR: Buy it. It works well, it has impressive and useful features, it looks great, it’s thin/low-profile, and it’s a great price. Detailed review: I’m very happy with this scale, and it has certainly upped my espresso game by leaps and bounds. I’m able to weigh my beans very precisely down to a tenth of a gram (roughly the weight of a single bean), so my dosing is on point. Also, it fits beneath the portafilter with room to spare for my cup, so I can weigh my shots and accurately measure my input/output ratio. And automatic mode is magic! When the espresso hits the cup, the timer starts running, so I can measure flow rate along with everything else! Overall, super easy to use and very necessary for the at-home barista. One caveat: It acted weird on the 2nd or 3rd day, and I thought I was going to have to return it. The weight would slowly creep up even though I wasn’t adding any coffee. I dusted it off, made sure it was dry, set it on a more stable surface… I still don’t know what the matter was, but it stopped freaking out and it hasn’t really given me any trouble since. Also, I should mention that the automatic function doesn’t always work 100% perfectly; it works, and usually works quite well, but depending on the flow rate, you might get some drops dribbling into the cup and the timer not detect it right away. (I think the timer must be activated according to some sort of algorithm that looks for a certain increase in a certain amount of time, so a slower initial drip rate might not trigger it at first.) Also weirdly, it seems like about half of the time when the weight stops increasing (i.e., espresso stops flowing) , the timer pauses (as I think it’s supposed to do), but other times, the timer keeps running until you manually stop it. I don’t know… It’s a weird glitch, I guess, but it doesn’t really make any difference. The weight is accurate, and that’s the primary thing to keep an eye on. So, is it perfect? No, I guess not. But, it works extremely well and functions perfectly for my purposes. In fact, it’s a lot nicer and fancier than I expected – plus, it’s more affordable and more streamlined than its obvious rival the Acacia.
