KSM-66®, Lion’s Mane, AlphaSize® and quick stim focus

Black Magic Supply Brain Waves mixes stims and nootropics. It's part quick focus boost, part stress handler, and part long-term brain helper. The label shows it clear. You get fast energy from caffeine anhydrous and 2-aminoheptane. Then it smooths things out with L-theanine, stuff for brain signals like choline, fats for cell health, adaptogens that help with stress, and plant-based memory aids. This isn't a simple pill. It's for people who want to feel more alert and locked in, while building recall, calm, and mental toughness.

The standout is 600mg KSM-66® Ashwagandha. That's a solid dose and a highlight here. KSM-66® is a top root extract with 5% withanolides – that's the active part. 600mg matches what you see in studies for handling stress, mood, and staying cool when things get intense. It helps cut that edgy feel from heavy stims.

Lion’s Mane is in at 600mg. That's a good amount for everyday nootropic use, especially with bacopa and phosphatidylserine. The label doesn't say how it's standardized. Lion’s mane supports nerve growth – think better brain repair signals – and it's for long-term clarity and toughness with regular use.

Cat’s Claw at 500mg isn't super common in nootropics, but it's there for brain protection and fighting inflammation. It adds a bigger picture to brain health beyond just the energy kick.

The B vitamins are picked smart. Vitamin B6 is the active form, pyridoxal-5-phosphate, and B12 is methylcobalamin at 1000mcg. These are not

BMS Brain Waves by Black Magic Supply contains 5mg B6 (Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate), a effective dose for training performance and pump.

Key Highlights

  • 600mg KSM-66® Ashwagandha – this is a top fully open dose in the formula and right in the sweet spot from studies. KSM-66® is a solid root extract with 5% withanolides, here to help you handle stress, stay chill, and keep your brain steady when it's go time.
  • 600mg Lion’s Mane Mushroom – a good dose for your daily nootropic routine, especially since this isn't just about stims. Lion’s mane helps with nerve support and plays into the long-term brain side more than instant energy.
  • 500mg Cat’s Claw – not your usual pick, which makes Brain Waves stand out from basic caffeine-plus-choline stuff. It brings protection against brain wear and inflammation, making the formula about more than just waking up.
  • AlphaSize® Alpha-GPC – going branded for this choline source is smart because Alpha-GPC is killer for boosting acetylcholine, the brain chemical for focus, memory, and that crisp mental edge you want in good nootropics.
  • Caffeine Anhydrous + L-Theanine – one of the best combos out there when dosed right. Studies show it ramps up attention and performance while dialing back the jitters and scatter from caffeine solo.
  • Huperzine A + Alpha-GPC cholinergic stack – classic combo that makes sense. Alpha-GPC feeds acetylcholine building blocks, huperzine A slows its breakdown, so together they build stronger focus and memory than either alone.
  • Bacopa inclusion – bacopa isn't a hype stim, but it's solid for memory and stress help. It fits the goal of quick focus plus better brain consistency over time.
  • Phosphatidylserine inclusion – PS is a key fat in cell walls, good for brain signals and toughness. In a nootropic like this, it supports the brain's setup while stims give you that speed boost.

BMS Brain Waves by Black Magic Supply contains 5mg B6 (Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate), a effective dose for training performance and pump.

Who Is This For?

  • Students grinding exams who need long focus for reading, reviewing, and solving. Caffeine, AlphaSize® and huperzine A for brain support, plus L-theanine and KSM-66® for calm make it better than plain stims for head work.
  • Pros with brain-heavy days, switching tasks, meetings, deadlines. It boosts alertness and stress handling – perfect for KSM-66® with stims.
  • Gamers wanting fast reactions, tight focus, less drift in long plays. Caffeine, theanine, vinpocetine, and brain stuff are go-tos, but hidden doses mean manage expectations.
  • Lifters sharpening up after draining days before gym time. Not for pumps, but great if focus and mental fire are your weak spot.
  • Shift workers or early risers needing a real wake-up without chugging energy drinks. More than caffeine, with adaptogens and brain helpers.
  • Nootropic fans who dig branded ingredients and full stacks over simple singles. KSM-66® and AlphaSize® step it up from basic blends.

How to Use

Start with 2 capsules to check tolerance, especially if stims hit you hard or you've never tried 2-aminoheptane. Full serving is 4, 20-30 minutes before tough tasks, training, studying, or work. Take with 8-16 oz water; empty stomach speeds it up, light meal softens if you're sensitive. Don't add big caffeine until you feel it out – total isn't listed. Stack with non-stims like creatine, fish oil, hydration, or protein, not another heavy nootropic. Use early, skip evenings unless stims don't mess your sleep. Store cool and dry, lid tight – capsules hate humidity.

What to Expect

In 10-20 minutes, stims kick first: building alertness, drive, and readiness. 20-40 minutes is peak – caffeine, 2-aminoheptane, and brain boosters feel strong for urgency, focus, and lock-in. If theanine's solid, it's cleaner than straight caffeine. Over 1-3 hours, it depends on hidden stim doses, but it's made for a real brain push. First week, figure half or full serving for your tolerance. Over 2-4 weeks, KSM-66®, bacopa, lion’s mane, and phosphatidylserine build resilience beyond the quick hit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Brain Waves designed to do?

Brain Waves is designed to increase alertness, concentration, and mental drive while also supporting smoother cognitive performance through ingredients like KSM-66®, L-theanine, bacopa, phosphatidylserine, and lion’s mane. It sits in the hybrid space between a strong energy product and a more complete nootropic stack.

How much caffeine is in Brain Waves?

The formula contains caffeine anhydrous, but the exact caffeine dose is not disclosed on the verified data available here. Because 2-aminoheptane is also included, users should treat this as a high-stim formula and start conservatively.

Is Brain Waves fully transparent with ingredient dosing?

No. KSM-66® Ashwagandha, Lion’s Mane, Cat’s Claw, B6, and B12 are disclosed, but several key nootropic ingredients—including AlphaSize® Alpha-GPC, bacopa, L-theanine, phosphatidylserine, vinpocetine, PQQ, huperzine A, caffeine, and 2-aminoheptane—do not have disclosed amounts in the verified data.

What is the best way to take Brain Waves?

Start with 2 capsules to assess tolerance, then move to the full 4-capsule serving if needed. Take it 20-30 minutes before studying, working, gaming, or training, ideally earlier in the day because of the stimulant content.

What makes KSM-66® important in this formula?

KSM-66® is one of the strongest disclosed parts of the formula at 600mg. It is a standardized ashwagandha root extract commonly used for stress resilience, mood support, and helping stimulant formulas feel more controlled and less mentally abrasive.

Why combine caffeine with L-theanine?

This is one of the best-supported nootropic pairings in the literature. Human data shows that L-theanine combined with caffeine can improve attention and reduce distractibility compared to caffeine alone, creating a smoother focus profile.

Can I stack Brain Waves with coffee or an energy drink?

It is better not to at first. Since the caffeine amount is undisclosed and 2-aminoheptane is present, adding more stimulants before you assess your response increases the chance of anxiety, elevated heart rate, or a crash.

Is Brain Waves a daily nootropic or an as-needed product?

It can function as both, but different ingredients support different timelines. The stimulant side is acute and felt the same day, while KSM-66®, bacopa, lion’s mane, and phosphatidylserine make more sense with regular use over several weeks.

Will Brain Waves help with memory, or is it just energy?

The ingredient architecture goes beyond simple energy. Alpha-GPC, huperzine A, bacopa, phosphatidylserine, lion’s mane, and PQQ all point toward memory, acetylcholine support, neuronal membrane health, and longer-horizon cognitive function.

Is Brain Waves beginner-friendly?

Not really. The stimulant profile appears aggressive, and key doses are hidden, which makes it harder for first-time users to predict how it will feel. Beginners are better served by a fully transparent lower-stim nootropic.

Stick format is thick and difficult to rub in moderate climates
Style: SPF 50, Size: 1 count (Pack of 1)
I wanted to like it because the small stick format seemed very convenient to keep in my bag for emergency sunscreen reapplication with no chance of leaks. But I think I have learned my lesson about stick sunscreen - in order to hold together in a stick, it has to have a thick and chalky consistency. Which makes it hard to apply and hard to rub in. It's so thick that if I rub the stick over my entire face it feels like I'm applying way too much with a super heavy white cast, and if I dab here and there and try to spread it around, it's so thick it doesn't feel like it spreads into good coverage. The scent is fine. Update: I have found a specific use case for this - in extreme UV conditions like the equatorial tropics in midsummer, it's a good base layer under a more liquid mineral sunscreen, to add extra protection to the most exposed skin, like tops of shoulders, chest, nose and top of forehead. The thickness makes it protect better. It also softens a little and rubs in better in hot temps.

Needs to be warmed, but works great for quick face re-application
Style: SPF 50, Size: 1 count (Pack of 1)
I love mineral sunscreen, it really works the best. But I also do not love mineral sunscreen because it's hard to apply. I don't think it matters what you do, they're just always difficult to apply and always leaving the white. This one isn't much different. I'm a scuba diver and my face sunscreen is washed off quickly doing multiple dives. I also get a weird "mask sunburn" if I don't reapply... but since I'm a diver I can't bring myself to buy or wear sunscreen that's not reef safe into the ocean. I was unsure if this would work because it's pretty solid. I threw it in my bag and once the sun warmed it up a little, I was able to apply it fairly easily between dives. I don't think it works unless it's warmed a bit first, but I like it for this purpose.

I Wanted to Like It
Style: SPF 50, Size: 1 count (Pack of 1)
I really wanted to like it because of the great reviews it gets with backpackers and generally with people that don't like "greasy hands syndrome" after applying sunscreen. But after using a stick I found that it's just not that good. The good: small, lightweight container. Not greasy. Good protection, I was in the sun all day hiking multiple days straight and only put on sunscreen twice per day and I didn't have any burning... and I burn easily. The bad: Value: the $12.53 sunscreen container only lasted about 8 days. And that was just my arms, neck, and half my face since I wore a shirt and long pants and a wide brim hat every day when hiking. I would expect this amount of sunscreen to last a lot longer than that on such a limited area. I'm not a big person either. Application, chafing: it's the opposite of greasy, almost chalky. You use the stick to apply to your skin in stripes, then you have to "blend it in" by rubbing with the backs of your hands so your palms don't get chalky. Since the stick is so dry this requires a fair amount of force and it chafes as you rub it around. When your skin a bit sandy it hurts. Application, crumbling: on a chilly but sunny morning, about 45 F, I applied sunscreen and small chunks of the stick crumbled off. I watched precious chunks of the already overpriced sunscreen drop to the ground. Residue: while it's not greasy, it's physical sunblock so it gives your skin the characteristic whitish sparkle. That's to be expected. But what I didn't foresee is it will rub off on anything your skin touches. My gear had white chalk-like marks (technically titania powder?) on my shirt collars, backpack straps, sunglasses, and a few other high-touch items. Overall I think it's a neat idea. I'm not overly disappointed with my purchase. But for $12.50 I expect sunscreen to be easier to apply and for the container to last longer than about 8 days. I can't burn $50/month in the summer months when a single container of chemical sunscreen will do the job. Pro tip: you can buy food-safe 3 oz TSA travel containers. Load one of those up with chemical sunscreen and you have something that beats this in every way except for the greasiness, which you can mitigate by picking a lower SPF sunscreen (the 30 SPF you wear is infinitely better than the 50 SPF you skip!).
