Core Nutritionals Essential Pre-Workout lives up to its name—it's all about the key ingredients that show up in sports nutrition studies, with clear doses and no hidden blends. This isn't a throw-everything-in pre-workout chasing the latest trend. It's a balanced, moderate-stim option that makes your workout feel better: stronger pumps, more sets without fading, sharper focus, and steady performance instead of a big energy spike and crash.

The star is 6,000mg of L-citrulline, right in the sweet spot from research for boosting nitric oxide and workout performance. Citrulline turns into arginine better than taking arginine directly—it skips some breakdown in the gut and gets converted in the kidneys. That ramps up nitric oxide, which widens blood vessels for better flow. You notice fuller muscles, more oxygen to your working areas, and often better reps, especially in tough, high-volume sessions.

Beta-alanine comes in at 3,200mg, the standard daily dose to build up carnosine in your muscles over time. Carnosine helps buffer the acid that builds during intense efforts, so it really helps in those last burning reps where the fatigue usually wins. This isn't a quick-hit ingredient—you load it up over time, and 3.2g is what studies keep pointing to.

Betaine anhydrous at 2,500mg is another solid pick backed by evidence. Betaine acts as an osmolyte, which means it helps cells hold onto water, and it's a methyl donor for important body processes. In folks who train, this dose links to better power, more total work, and

Core Essential Pre by Core Nutritionals contains 50mg Magnesium, a effective dose for training performance and pump.

Key Highlights

  • 6,000mg L-Citrulline — a full dose that's spot-on from the studies for bumping up arginine and nitric oxide. You get better blood vessel widening, killer pumps, and solid flow to muscles, way better than those skimpy 3g versions.
  • 3,200mg Beta-Alanine — the everyday dose that builds carnosine in your muscles. As that ramps up, your muscles handle acid better during tough sets, helping you grind through those final reps.
  • 2,500mg Betaine Anhydrous — the dose you see in performance studies. It keeps your cells hydrated and supports metabolism, leading to stronger power and more capacity in trained guys.
  • 1,000mg N-Acetyl L-Carnitine HCl — a real amount for brain and performance perks, not just a tiny bit. It helps with energy in your cells and gives a clear-headed vibe for training, better than just more caffeine.
  • 300mg Alpha-GPC 50% — here for focus and muscle-brain connection. Since it's 50% pure, you get about 150mg of the active stuff—useful without going overboard, and that's straight-up honest.
  • 200mg Caffeine Anhydrous — enough to get you fired up without crossing into heavy-stim land. Makes this pre easy to use every day, unlike those 350mg+ monsters.
  • 50mg AstraGin® — the full dose from NuLiv Science, not a weak version. It boosts how your gut absorbs nutrients, which fits perfect in formulas loaded with aminos and performance boosters.
  • Electrolytes from magnesium, sodium, and potassium citrates — a smart touch for staying hydrated and keeping muscles firing. Not huge amounts, but they help with contractions, fluids, and pushing through sessions.

Who Is This For?

  • Intermediate bodybuilders on hypertrophy plans who dig pumps, tight sessions, and mind-muscle link over wild stims. 6g citrulline and 2.5g betaine boost flow, hydration, and rep quality for volume work.
  • Folks training 4-6 days a week needing a usable pre without stim burnout. 200mg caffeine drives you without the overload of 350-450mg stuff.
  • After-work trainers wanting support without sleep risks. Moderate caffeine fits later days, while citrulline, betaine, and beta-alanine handle the real work.
  • Strength-hypertrophy guys in build phases needing late-session help. 3.2g beta-alanine loads carnosine, key when acid limits sets.
  • Athletes who like clear labels to match against studies. Core's all about transparency, so you see every dose plain.
  • Gym rats wanting focus without exotic stim overload. ALCAR, Alpha-GPC, and 200mg caffeine give clean intent, not frenzy.

How to Use

Mix 1 scoop in 10-14 ounces of cold water and drink 20-30 minutes pre-training. Matches caffeine's timing to hit before big sets. Shaker's best for mixing. More water tones down flavor and spreads out beta-alanine feel.

Fine on empty stomach for quicker start, but if your gut's touchy, have a light meal and add time. Don't stack with other caffeine unless you're tracking it. Add creatine for energy stores, electrolytes for sweaty days, or intra carbs for long sessions. No need to cycle non-stims, but caffeine breaks can help sensitivity. Keep it sealed, cool, and dry.

What to Expect

Minutes 0-10: not much yet, just settling in, especially with water. Beta-alanine sensitive? You might feel a light tingle starting.

Minutes 10-20: caffeine kicks in, you feel alert and ready. Tingles can pick up, and warm-ups might show early vascular feels.

Minutes 20-40: prime time. Energy's steady, focus is on point, and citrulline pumps shine once you're lifting.

Minutes 40-90: still going strong without a sharp drop. Pump, hydration, and focus hold up in later sets as caffeine eases.

Days 1-7: quick wins from caffeine, citrulline, and focus, while beta-alanine starts loading. Weeks 2-4: carnosine builds, and it feels like a reliable upgrade for tough workouts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much caffeine is in Core Nutritionals Essential Pre-Workout?

Each 1-scoop serving provides 200mg of caffeine anhydrous. That places it firmly in the moderate-stim category—strong enough for noticeable energy and training drive, but substantially more manageable for daily use than 300-400mg pre-workouts.

Is the 6g L-citrulline dose actually clinically effective?

Yes. Core provides 6,000mg of pure L-citrulline, which sits directly in the 6-8g range most often used in research for nitric oxide support, blood flow, and exercise performance. This is one of the strongest parts of the formula.

Why does this product make my skin tingle?

That sensation comes from the 3,200mg beta-alanine dose. It is called paresthesia and is a common, harmless effect of beta-alanine supplementation, especially when taken at fully effective doses. Some people feel it strongly, others barely notice it.

Is the Alpha-GPC dose high enough for focus?

The product includes 300mg of Alpha-GPC 50%, which yields about 150mg actual Alpha-GPC. That can contribute to focus, especially alongside caffeine and 1g N-acetyl L-carnitine, but it is below the 300-600mg active range often highlighted for stronger nootropic or power-oriented effects.

Do I need to use this every day or only before workouts?

You will feel the caffeine, citrulline, and focus effects acutely on workout days, but beta-alanine works best through daily saturation. If maximizing endurance benefits matters to you, consistent daily intake is ideal even on off days.

Can I stack this with creatine?

Yes, and it is a very logical stack. This pre-workout covers pump, buffering, energy, and focus, while a separate 3-5g creatine monohydrate product adds phosphocreatine support for strength and repeated high-intensity output.

Is this better for pump or energy?

It is balanced, but the formula’s strongest standout is probably the combination of clinically dosed citrulline, full-dose beta-alanine, and research-backed betaine rather than stimulant intensity alone. In practice, most users will notice both better pump and cleaner energy.

Should I take it fasted or with food?

Either works, but taking it 20-30 minutes pre-workout on a relatively empty stomach usually gives the fastest onset. A heavy meal can slow absorption and blunt how quickly the caffeine and focus ingredients come on.

Is this a good beginner pre-workout?

For beginners who want a serious but not extreme formula, yes. The key is starting with a half scoop first, because 200mg caffeine plus full-dose beta-alanine can still feel strong if you are new to pre-workouts.

What makes this different from mass-market pre-workouts?

The biggest differences are full label transparency and meaningful doses on the core ergogenics. Many mainstream formulas underdose citrulline, hide ingredient amounts in blends, or rely on heavy caffeine to create the illusion of effectiveness. Core’s formula is much easier to validate against actual research.

Excellent Budget Gaming Monitor
Size: 24.5" 200Hz/FHD
I’m very impressed with this monitor for the price. The 200Hz refresh rate makes gameplay feel incredibly smooth, especially in fast-paced games. The picture quality is sharp, colors look good, and the screen size is perfect for both gaming and everyday use.

Better off saving your money for a quality brand like Acer or Samsung
Size: 24"/FHD/240Hz
If you were looking for a decent gaming monitor with a good refresh rate, you better keep looking. Honestly, I wanted to really like this thing. For $120, it ticked off a lot of great features for me: at least 120Hz refresh rate, 1080p quality, and some nifty reticule marks for FPS gamers like myself. And for a year I had no problems with it until a few days ago. The ability to control input's, power, and toggle the reticule features all lie on one singular button behind the monitor. Here lie's the issue; if that power button starts messing up, there is no way to control or turn on/off the monitor. This is exactly what happened on my unit; the power button/control went out and the monitor was basically useless. I contacted Koorui support via email, and all I got was a vague "Did you confirm the button is really broken" response. Replied back that I did, and the manufacturer has ghosted me. Basically, I HIGHLY advise you just save up a few $80 or $100 dollars and get a decent entry level gaming monitor. By going cheap with this one, you will just end up probably wearing out the power/control button and be left with an expensive paperweight. If you are DIY repair savvy, I am sure that replacing the power/control button probably is not that big of a deal. In which case, go right ahead as it is a decent monitor for the price. But with that said, having this thing break leaves you with basically no options to get it fixed and good luck trying to get a hold of Koorui for support. Sadly, this is a growing trend on buying electronic's here on amazon from smaller brand sellers. *Update* So as of writing this review, I got Koorui to reach out to me. They would agree to replace the monitor for free, but I would have to front the shipping costs. They have their operations out in California, so if you live on the east coast then expect to pay around $40-50 for shipping for the monitor all the way out there (nearly half the monitor's value). I told Koorui that this just did not make any financial sense and they offered to refund me 50% of the monitor's value. However, they have yet to specify how they will send the refund, so I am unsure of whether I will see my partial refund when this is all said and done. So know that if you do proceed to get this monitor and need to return it past the 30 day return window covered by Amazon. TLDR: just save up an extra $50-100 for a big brand gaming monitor and save yourself the headache of dealing with all of this.

I feel fully enveloped in the work
Size: 34"/WQHD/1000R/HDR400
Changed my work at home experience. I feel fully enveloped in the work. I don't use it for gaming so can't comment on that. But for laptop heavy work days, this is a great experience.

Simple and not Drama claim process.
’ve had Asurion coverage for a couple of years and never needed to use it until recently, when my pool salt cell (less than two years old) stopped working. I had purchased it with an Asurion protection plan, so I contacted them to start a claim. The process was simple and straightforward to follow. In the end, they honored the plan and covered the cost of my salt cell based on the value when I originally bought it. They issued me a gift card that I could use on Amazon for that amount. While prices have gone up and a new cell now costs about $200 more, it was still definitely worth having the coverage. Overall, I’m satisfied with how the claim was handled.
