Ranked in the Top 100 Chocolates in the World.

Origin & Craftsmanship
Crafted by Kasama, a Vancouver-based bean‑to‑bar chocolatier, this bar uses a microlot of organic cacao beans grown in Kisinga, on the southern slopes of Uganda’s majestic Rwenzori Mountains—famously known as the “Mountains of the Moon.” The beans are fermented in eucalyptus wood boxes for 5.5–6.5 days and sun-dried on raised racks for 6–7 days, preserving their nuanced character.

Flavor Profile
Expect a wonderfully fruity aroma with vibrant notes of tangerine, morello cherry, and the gentle sweetness of wildflower honey. On the palate, this bar layers bright citrus and sweet cherry over a smooth, bittersweet chocolate base, anchored by honeyed undertones and a subtle floral lift.

Ingredients & Dietary Info
Made with organic cacao beans, organic unrefined cane sugar, and organic cocoa butter. It’s vegan, gluten-free, and ideal for clean‑label chocolate lovers.

Tasting & Pairing Guide

Unwrap the Kisinga 70% and take a moment to smell the bright citrus and cherry aroma before tasting. Let it slowly melt on your tongue to fully experience the interplay of tangerine zest, morello cherry richness, and honeyed warmth. Pair this chocolate with a crisp Riesling or a delicate sparkling wine to harmonize with its fruity sweetness, or sip alongside an herbal tea like chamomile or hibiscus to emphasize its floral and honey tones. For a cozy twist, pair with a medium roast coffee that echoes the dark chocolate base. For food pairings, sliced stone fruit like apricots or dark cherries enhance its fruity profile, while shortbread cookies offer a buttery contrast to its vibrant notes.

Summary

The Kasama Kisinga 70% Dark Chocolate is a bright, elegant chocolate with a fruit-forward profile that captures the essence of Kisinga’s terroir. With its hand-crafted process, vibrant tasting notes, and clean ingredients, it’s a standout for anyone seeking nuanced, ethical, bean-origin expression in a bar.

Beating guns - important things to ponder (so they do not beat us!)
Format: Kindle
I recently read an early copy of this book (Feb 2019). Beating Guns presents a thoughtful view of guns in our country. Seems like a good overview of where we are and how we got there. I appreciate that the views are presented by (fellows) that have held guns, so that they are not an abstract concept but a reality to them. I would hope this book helps people see the issues perhaps with a bit more understanding, and that in turn may lead to dialogue between people to arrive at a less antagonistic situation. This topic is complicated; no one book can possibly cover all the angles and options, yet this book and this approach are a reasonable way to keep people thinking about solutions.

Read it. You'll like it.
Format: Kindle
This book is challenging. Mostly because it hurts. It hurts to see statistics. It hurts to see memorials of lives lost that didn't have to be. But for me, it hurts because we are to be kingdom people now and we've failed on the gun front. I'm in the process of taking a rifle that was used in suicide and turning into a tool for life. We need to do that. So buy the book. Read it. Wrestle with it. Then get to turning swords into ploughshares.
