When Michael J. Behe's first book, Darwin's Black Box, was published in 1996, it launched the intelligent design movement. Critics howled, yet hundreds of thousands of readers -- and a growing number of scientists -- were intrigued by Behe's claim that Darwinism could not explain the complex machinery of the cell.

Now, in his long-awaited follow-up, Behe presents far more than a challenge to Darwinism: He presents the evidence of the genetics revolution -- the first direct evidence of nature's mutational pathways -- to radically redefine the debate about Darwinism.

How much of life does Darwin's theory explain? Most scientists believe it accounts for everything from the machinery of the cell to the history of life on earth. Darwin's ideas have been applied to law, culture, and politics.

But Darwin's theory has been proven only in one sense: There is little question that all species on earth descended from a common ancestor. Overwhelming anatomical, genetic, and fossil evidence exists for that claim. But the crucial question remains: How did it happen? Darwin's proposed mechanism -- random mutation and natural selection -- has been accepted largely as a matter of faith and deduction or, at best, circumstantial evidence. Only now, thanks to genetics, does science allow us to seek direct evidence. The genomes of many organisms have been sequenced, and the machinery of the cell has been analyzed in great detail. The evolutionary responses of microorganisms to antibiotics and humans to parasitic infections have been traced over tens of thousands of generations.

As a result, for the first time in history Darwin's theory can be rigorously evaluated. The results are shocking. Although it can explain marginal changes in evolutionary history, random mutation and natural selection explain very little of the basic machinery of life. The edge of evolution, a line that defines the border between random and nonrandom mutation, lies very far from where Darwin pointed. Behe argues convincingly that most of the mutations that have defined the history of life on earth have been nonrandom.

Although it will be controversial and stunning, this finding actually fits a general pattern discovered by other branches of science in recent decades: The universe as a whole was fine-tuned for life. From physics to cosmology to chemistry to biology, life on earth stands revealed as depending upon an endless series of unlikely events. The clear conclusion: The universe was designed for life.

Highly recommend! Lifesaver for sensitive dry eczema
Bought this with their face wash, no regrets. My sensitive, peeling eczema face was getting red and uncomfortable (not to mention peeling no matter what special Derm sample products I tried). This is THICK. A little goes a long way. I pat it into my face and dry eczema patches after using the face wash. It lasts awhile, love that it contains aloe. My redness and literal peeling nose, cheek and chin are 80% better after using 2wks. Immediately felt better with first use. Cannot really use under makeup! This is heavy and a bedtime product.

It does work!
My child was diagnosed with severe eczema and takes the Dupixent shot once a month. He had to stop it for a month before and a month after in order to take his live MMR vaccine. This cream is the first one we have used the actually works. He will still have to get back on his shots, but for a baby with mild to moderate eczema, this might do the trick! Tried it on myself in a few spots and could tell a difference overnight.

Works but packaging is not good,
This stuff really helped my daughter's eczema so I ordered again but when I took the film off the container the jar was oily. I opened the jar and the seal was completely off, stuck to the top of the lid and there was specks that weren't in the last jar. I'm pretty disappointed.

Temporary relief well worth it.
4 stars only because this has not cleared up my 1 year olds eczema in days like the ads say. It IS a great product though. We have gone through almost 3 jars in a week and a half, the skin just seems to soak it in. It has dramatically improved the inflammation and flaky-ness but unfortunately the deep itch persists. We have safely used it on eyelids. It does have an interesting smell to it, I don't mind it but my 9 year old comments on it every time it's used. Product works well enough and provides temporary relief that we've purchased other items from the shop.

Helping with dry, itchy eyelids (with this brand’s emollient for eyelids)
Size: 60 Count (Pack of 1), Size: 60 Count (Pack of 1)
Comes with 60 wipes, 20 in each box. Each wipe is individually wrapped and open easily with a tear. They are helping my itchy, dry eyelids. I’ve never really had this issue before but do wear a lot of makeup so I decided to buy these as well as the same brand of emollient for dry eyelids. Together they feel really nice and are helping. The wipes are plenty large and wet enough to really get your eyelids and eye area wiped down. They are soft and thick. I’m using these after removing my makeup before bed just to get them extra clean and give them some sort of treatment because aquaphor alone wasn’t helping.. I can smell the tea tree oil which is pleasant. They don’t burn my sensitive eyes at all. They have overall good ingredients. Tea tree oil is antibacterial so it acts as a disinfectant and also helps with itchy dry skin, chamomile is soothing, centella is good for not stripping your natural skin barrier which would dry them out more. (I’m thinking this could be my problem and am going to switch makeup removers to one with centella): they also have hyleuronic acid (to attract moisture), glycerin (strengthens skin barrier, softens and is antimicrobial , promotes healing) aloe (soothing and healing), panthenol and vitamin E. The only thing I’m not sure about is the disodium EDTA. It IS used in some eye drops to treat certain conditions but mostly used as a preservative. It can have some negative side effects like irritation. You can look that up for yourself. It’s used in a lot of things and is generally safe. I, personally, will make sure I don’t get any of this IN my eyes though. If your eyelids are dry, itchy or irritated these are worth giving a try.
