Helen Walton Bishop: First Woman off the Titanic! Her Story follows a woman whose short life took a fascinating detour from the normal woman of her time. Helen was rebellious as a young girl and was not above embellishing her adventures before her death. Most people only know her as a rich woman who was a passenger on the Titanic and was one of the lucky survivors. Her life would take a dramatic turn just a year later in the form of a car accident that led to severe head trauma.

Toward the end of her life, she suffered a failed marriage due to abandonment and betrayal by her husband, a rumored romance, and death at the age of twenty-three. Boland hopes people will be fascinated by her life story, childhood, and life before she became a Titanic survivor.

About the Author

Rachel Boland is a true Michigander. Her love for history began when she was thirteen and started exploring her family history. Since then, she has immersed herself in local history, learning more about her hometown of Sturgis and the fascinating people who contributed to its development. Rachel's passion for history has led her on a forty- five-year journey, during which she worked with two Renaissance Faires and a jousting group. In addition to writing books and conducting family research, Rachel volunteers as a researcher and archivist for the Sturgis Historical Museum. She organizes and catalogs local artifacts for the Historical Society there.

She enjoys photography and is involved with the Sturgis Civic Players in her spare time. She is a member of several historical societies throughout Michigan. Rachel is also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and loves spending time with her two fur babies. Rachel’s work on Helen Walton Bishop was published in the Historical Society of Michigan’s Chronicle magazine. She is currently working on another biography while helping a local filmmaker with research.

All around helpful---worth the money!
Format: Paperback
This guide has been most helpful for all the folks I help prepare for the iTEP test! It gives insight into what each section of the test is looking for along with examples and great tips about actually TAKING the test. In the Writing and Speaking sections, it also gives sample scores and comments from the Master Grader which is very helpful too.

Comprehensive, clear and coherent!
Format: Paperback
The iTEP Practice Guide combines a no-nonsense approach to the specific iTEP tests and at the same time offers exercises that task the student with what they need to know. Exercises not only serve the purpose of scoring well, but the overall approach is communicative competence. We use the text in our group and one-to-one classes with very positive--and lasting--results.
