Born in the inner city, amid the charred ruins of the 1968 race riots, go-go generated a distinct culture and an economy of independent, almost exclusively black-owned businesses that sold tickets to shows and recordings of live go-gos. At the peak of its popularity, in the 1980s, go-go could be heard around the capital every night of the week, on college campuses and in crumbling historic theaters, hole-in-the-wall nightclubs, backyards, and city parks.Go-Go Live is a social history of black Washington told through its go-go music and culture. Encompassing dance moves, nightclubs, and fashion, as well as the voices of artists, fans, business owners, and politicians, Natalie Hopkinson's Washington-based narrative reflects the broader history of race in urban America in the second half of the twentieth century and the early twenty-first. In the 1990s, the middle class that had left the city for the suburbs in the postwar years began to return. Gentrification drove up property values and pushed go-go into D.C.'s suburbs. The Chocolate City is in decline, but its heart, D.C.'s distinctive go-go musical culture, continues to beat. On any given night, there's live go-go in the D.C. metro area.

Good plot but definitely slow burn

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5|🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (not a ton of spice scenes for an Omegaverse)
The plot, character development, scene progression, and action throughout the story was done really well. I did wish there was better pacing for the spice. I felt like the big spice was really rushed. During some scenes the story was a little hard to follow. I think some parts could’ve been cut. Overall I would read more from this author! 💖

omg loved the story

I’ve been in a reading slump DNFing so many books and finally found a story to keep me captivated… now with that though there were still some parts that were a bit of a struggle like Tatums struggle with the past trauma she dragged that on for ever I get it pasts are hard to overcome sometimes. But honestly it was easy to get over it falling in love with all these little psychos 🤣🤣🤣 absolutely loved Kodi’s obsession with getting Easton even though he doesn’t know him but smells brownies everywhere and missing the mark it was hysterical.

Omegaverse with rival families.

Tatum is trying to raise enough money to treat her omega mother who has fallen catatonic due to the death of her mate. To make the money she needs she agrees to work at a gentleman's club scantily dressed. There she meets the twin Hayes brothers, Declan and Kodiak, what she doesn't know is that their younger half brother is the high school sweetheart that ghosted her after helping with her first heat. Tatum also meets Easton, the mysterious male omega that pops into her life but she finds herself strongly attracted to.
I enjoyed all the characters, even those that were not major characters, the plot was good, the storyline was well done. I would recommend this book if you liked Omegaverse stories, mafia storylines, and good romance with why choose.

Wow.

Okay I’m usually not one for stand-alone’s I’m an avid series reader but my goodness am I so happy I read this! This story was brilliant & so absolutely mesmerizing. I loved reading about each character and their struggles as well as what helped them to move forward. The ending definitely brought tears to my eyes so hard. I truly wasn’t expecting some of what happened in this story. There is about to be a spoiler I am going to reveal so please stop reading if you don’t want the spoiler !!!! ⚠️ ⛔️ ‼️
I loved that the author didn’t do what most authors do with irredeemable male characters. I truly was hoping that Nate Jr. would be apart of the pack after the way he treated Astrea bc he truly didn’t deserve it. Though I must say you did a wonderful job or redeeming him as a person. I cried my eyes out when he walked into the story. I was truly terrified he was going to be a bad guy to the end. However you truly did him such a justice by having him realize his faults & having him redeem himself in the most wonderful way. I’m so sad that he didn’t get to hear how much his brother loved him & forgave him before dying. But again you wrote that ending so beautifully & I just can’t express how much I loved this story & how you took a different route than most authors I have read have. You are a remarkable author Cinder Blaze & I thank you generously for creating such a masterpiece.

Omegaverse

I was pleasantly surprised by this omega verse book. This 1 definitely had a few new twists And I really enjoyed reading it. The main female character was a badass and awesome. She had 1 best friend I wish we could have seen a little bit more of their friendship in this book. Her relationship with the male characters was good not to contrived or super instantaneous. And we had some fun plot twists that I didn't expect. I wish we had more of a follow up on the situation with her family her background and her mother who was a wench. I would definitely recommend this book.
