With defiant determination rarely found in a metal band, THERION have always and exclusively done what they deemed right. Never did they stick to a successful formula, never did they release the same album twice, never did they give in to fickle friends like expectation, commercial aspects or trends. Which makes it all the more astounding that now, 35 years deep into their storied career, they actually do something every fan had hoped but never actually thought possible. Enter “Leviathan”, enter a trilogy focusing on all the trademark elements THERION are beloved by countless of metal fans around the globe. After the first part set hearts aflame in 2021, evoking goosebumps galore and reminiscing the glory days of the nineties, the symphonic metal grand-seigneurs continue their surprisingly fan-friendly path with their epic odyssey “Leviathan II”.

After breaking into the nineties with their Celtic Frost tinged, gothic interlaced death metal manifestos “Of Darkness …” and “Beyond SanctorumTHERION spearheaded the symphonic metal uprise with their game-changing masterpiece “Theli” in 1996, followed by “Vovin” in 1998, their most successful album to date. „In the nineties nobody was ready for what we did,“ he muses. „We started something new, something bold. We were forerunners, pioneers but ultimately, time caught up with us. Today, everybody uses orchestra or operatic vocals.” None so skilfully and elegant as THERION, of course.

The “Leviathan” trilogy is THERION’s way of honouring their storied career, carving out all the elements that made them become the revered symphonic metal titans they are. “That may sound very easy but it was a great challenge for us,” Johnsson says. “I was spending a lot of time analysing the songs people loved the most. We didn’t want to sound like a copy of our former self but we wanted to extract the essence of what our fans love the most about us in order to write songs that bear the essence of our most iconic pieces.”

While the first part of the trilogy was honouring the classical THERION anthems, “Leviathan II” rekindles the mystic, melancholic aura of their groundbreaking work “Vovin” while part three will focus on the “braver orchestral songs” in September 2023, as Christofer Johnsson puts it. The mighty lead single off “Leviathan II”, “Litany Of The Fallen”, works as a bridge between all three parts, uniting said trademarks in one song. And of course that’s only the beginning: Just take “Pazuzu”, a song so grand they recorded it in two versions – a classic THERION style anthem and a lofty AOR version. And it works! Outstanding moments can also be found in the mystic beauty that is “Alchemy of the Soul” or the symphonic grandeur of “Marijin Min Nar”.

First the three albums of “Beloved Antichrist”, now a whole trilogy that’s already recorded: One could guess (and would do so correctly) that Christofer Johnsson has no shortage of inspiration these days. “Thanks to ‘Beloved Antichrist’ my songwriting changed considerably,” he nods. “Before that I was a victim to my muse. I heavily depended on that little demon sitting on my shoulder and singing me a song every now and then. But when you make a rock musical like this, you need to write in scenes. It’s all laid out and you need to write songs tailor-made for a certain scene. Having accomplished this, I feel that I can write what I want, anytime. It's not spontaneous or chaotic any more.”

Rooted deep in the mythologies of the world, in ancient legends, forbidden knowledge and arcane belief, THERION continue their trailblazing stalwarts as masters of mythological metal. “We write about what sparks our interest,” he explains. “To me, this is always a welcome opportunity to dive into some mythology, culture or belief I haven't tapped in too much before.” To his listeners, too. The “Leviathan” trilogy, named after the cosmic beast rising from the seas, is a compendium to the myths of the world, a bestiary of forgotten lands and creatures.

Obsessed. Soothing, effective, fragrance-free, incredibly healing
Style: Tolerance Daily Foaming Facial Cleanser
I’ve been loving this so much I bought a second bottle after a few days of using it. It has all the skin soothing benefits of the tolerance lotion cleanser, but it’s also a really great cleanser. It’s almost not noticeable how good it is at cleansing because your skin doesn’t feel stripped after, but it takes things off really quickly. I was worried because it doesn’t foam a lot and it feels so nurturing — much like the tolerance lotion cleanser (which I use as a second cleanse when my skin needs a few days to recover from something like a derm office treatment) — but when I wash again with my favorite HG cleanser nothing extra comes off, and I tested it twice on waterproof eyeliner that I’d swiped on my forearm for an hour or so, the eyeliner dissolved and wiped off with two or three gentle swipes. It has a very emollient texture, so when you rub it against your skin it slips so easily you don’t realize it’s dissolving and taking things away because there is no friction. So it’s great at taking off makeup, it’s AMAZING at cleaning makeup brushes, and IT DOES NOT BURN MY EYES AT ALL. Also, it is FRAGRANCE-FREE… before I bought it I read a review complaining about smelling a citrus fragrance, that person either has some sort of brain tumor or something spilled on their bottle when it was in a warehouse because this is definitely a fragrance-free product. Prior to trying this, I had tried another cleanser that gave me weird acne hives all over my chest (never happened to me before) and I was struggling to heal the acne and the irritation. I noticed an immediate difference when I started using the tolerance cleanser on it; the fresh redness went away, the acne started healing, and the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation has been healing fast. So I’ve been using this on my body as well and it’s soothing and moisturizing in all the places where other things have been drying. I have mild rosacea and I hadn’t realized how irritated my skin was from the last thing I’d tried until after 5 days or so of using this my skin tone looked much more even and the stubborn PIH I have from a two-zit hormonal breakout a month ago finally looked dramatically lighter (as recently as the week before, I’d needed to cover them with high-coverage concealer). Because this doesn’t foam much, some people might not realize how well it’s cleaning… I encourage you to judge it based on how your skin looks and feels. Since it is very emollient though, I do think it’s important to use it with a face wash scrubber or washcloth just to ensure you’re getting some mild mechanical exfoliation and clearing away skin cells that could be trapping stuff in your pores. For this reason, I do wash my face with this twice so the first wash can get off makeup/debris/oil and then the second wash can really penetrate and clean my skin.

No Scent and Gentle
Style: Tolerance Daily Foaming Facial Cleanser
I broke out in a case of Perioral Dermatitis recently and bought this product to help before I could see my doctor. Avene Tolerance facial cleanser has no scent and is very gentle on my skin. It didn’t burn when washing with this product, and even helped to slough off the dead skin around my lips. My face feels clean, not dry. I am still going to see my doc to get an RX for the inflammation, but I do believe this product helped to alleviate the dryness and tightness of my skin and lips. I’ve used other Avene products and I’m very happy with them. Even though these products are more expensive, to me they are well worth the money because they are much more gentle on the skin than any other products I’ve used. I will buy this product again just because of the fact that it’s so gentle. PS: at the time of purchase for this product, I also bought Avene’s Tolerance Control Skin Recovery Cream (you don’t need to use a lot of this one on your entire face), and Avene’s Cicalfate for lips. Between these 3 products, my lips and skin feel a lot better (however, I will still see my doctor because I have Crohn’s Disease and Perioral Dermatitis is considered an extra-intestinal side effect of Crohn’s).

Gentle everyday cleanser!
Style: Tolerance Daily Foaming Facial Cleanser
My go to nightly cleanser! Gentle yet effective. Removes makeup without leaving any residue behind. Also does not dry out my skin or cause breakouts! I would say it’s more of a cream cleanser though. It does not really foam up. It’s a decent size bottle for the price. The pump dispenser is an added plus!

So gentle and moisturizing. Great for super sensitive skin.
Style: Tolerance Daily Foaming Facial Cleanser
This is so gentle and moisturizing. Does not irritate my skin in any way. My skin is super sensitive and I have atopic dermatitis, it has been the best cleanser I’ve used to date. I was using another one from this brand and it was fine but this is the one I will continually stick with from now on. Just hope they don’t change the formula.
