"A book told in the voice of an individual with disabilities is a rarity. This book -- so rich and full, so vivid and moving, so free of clich , so bursting with hope -- is a marvel." -- Rachel Simon, New York Times bestselling author of Riding the Bus with My Sister and The Story of Beautiful Girl

"Wonderful ... Informative and inspirational ... A different perspective." -- Barbara E. Bromley, Ph.D., California State Polytechnic University, Pomona

"Michael Long tells the truth in this book. And truth about what it means to be a human being is hard to come by." -- Nancy R. Thaler, Deputy Secretary for the Office of Developmental Programs, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

Michael S. Long is a dreamer, and this candid memoir brings you into those dreams and into the reality of life with a disability.

Born with an intellectual disability and cerebral palsy, Michael takes you right along with him as he recounts his youth and teen years -- when he was mocked, ridiculed and branded "a retard" -- through his young adult life, when he learned to truly believe in himself and in the power of his potential.

Michael will win you over with his plainspoken style as he shares how he fulfilled his dreams -- to have a home of his own, a career, and someone to love -- and offers the inspiration to go after your own heart's fondest desires, no matter what.

CRITICAL PRAISE

"Every page is full of breathtaking honesty, hard-won insights, love for others so deep you feel it in your own bones, clarity about the rights of people with disabilities, and enthusiasm for all life has to offer, from education to employment to civic involvement to romance to living the American Dream. His journey from child to man is populated by many naysayers who put him down and tell him what he cannot do, but also caring parents, good friends, and one teacher who made a huge difference. As I read on, watching Michael come to believe in himself, move into an independent life, and strive to make his mark on the world, my emotions rose and fell and rose again -- until he becomes a prominent and influential self-advocate and public speaker, and then, my heart soared." -- Rachel Simon, New York Times bestselling author of Riding the Bus with My Sister and The Story of Beautiful Girl

"Michael has made presentations in my Mainstreaming and Special Education classes for a number of years. I cannot praise Michael's contributions enough ... He is an example of the results for which we all strive." -- Patricia M. Phipps, Ph.D., Professor / Special Education, California State University, Chico

"Michael Long has been a visionary pioneer forging dreams of a future where people with disabilities are living, working, learning, and playing in communities that recognize the value of all people. He is an outspoken, courageous leader and 'hero' in the self-advocacy movement. ... I have personally witnessed the transformation in others when they have been 'touched' by Michael -- he is a unique and generous human being." -- Laura Larson, Executive Director, State Council of California Developmental Disabilities Board

It's hard af.
Color: Right - Grey, Size: Small, Color: Right - Grey, Size: Small
Edit: just realized Amazon sent me a left handed one! I got this one and the g2 or whatever with the strap. The g2 is great. This one is hard though. The edges of the rest thingy. And the edges in the middle where it splits are annoying. Idk if it's a difference in the rubber pads or what. Even if this works for wrist pain, it's not worth it for the palm discomfort.

Ergonomic and effective, but requires adjustment.
Color: Right - White, Size: Large
Bought this for improving wrist posture during long hours at the desk. What I like • The ergonomic design helps reduce wrist strain, especially during extended typing sessions. • The right-handed orientation is comfortable and natural to use. • High-quality build, feels sturdy and durable. What could be better • It takes some time to adjust to the unique design, especially if you’re used to traditional mice. • The size may not be suitable for people with smaller hands. • It could be a bit pricey compared to other ergonomic mice on the market. Bottom line: A great investment for improving wrist posture and reducing strain, but it might not be for everyone due to the learning curve and price. Perfect for users looking to enhance ergonomics, but consider alternatives if you have smaller hands or need a more budget-friendly option.

It’s painful. Not worth it.
Color: Right - Grey, Size: Small, Color: Right - Grey, Size: Small
I hate it. Period. Very strong feelings about it right out of the box. Gave it a few days, and not only do I still hate it but it’s very painful to use. The rubber material is hard and has pressure points that make you come away feeling like you’ve rested your wrist on the edge of a table for too long. I come away more sore using this than not. They only have small and large sizes, I think the small is too small for me? (I’m not sure. I can tell it doesn’t fit well, but I can’t tell if it’s because it’s too small or the shape isn’t right for my wrist). In any event, I am sure the large would be too large and even if they had a medium size I still wouldn’t repurchase this. Maybe if you’ve got some meat on your bones it would be more comfortable but as you can see, I am a very thin person and this is pressing on all the wrong places. I also feel like the center valley part contributes to carpal tunnel pain because the very firm edges of each side rested right in that area, not offering any support to the valley of the wrist, and therefore creating pressure to that nerve center and the ligaments. I don’t know why they chose this material, it’s too firm. Also, I think a better design would be a little tab from the center of it sticking out and then attaching to the bottom of the mouse so that both mouse and the wrist “support” worked as one unit when moving the mouse around. I often found that I didn’t drag the wrist piece with my mouse well and that it caused even more issues. If it were comfortable I would have made a little tab myself and connected the mouse and the wrist rest together, but as it’s extremely not even remotely comfortable I’m not bothering and I’ve already started the return process.

Quality Product, Definitely Recommend
Size: 17.2"L x 3.15"W x 0.78"H, Color: Black Walnut, Size: 17.2"L x 3.15"W x 0.78"H, Color: Black Walnut
Looks and feels great. Amazingly smooth, and well-crafted. It fits the length of my keyboard, and has quality grippers on the base to prevent sliding. Was actually really pleased with it.

High quality solid wood rest
Size: 14.4"L x 3.15"W x 0.78"H, Color: Black Walnut
This wrist rest is nicely finished and was well packed in high-density foam as well as a cardboard box that was wrapped very tightly in thick plastic. It's sanded very, very smooth and is made of beautiful solid walnut, with nonskid pads on the back. The branding is on the side that touches the keyboard, so it is not visible or obtrusive at all. My keyboard is 15.5 inches long, and the 14.4 inch rest looks great up against it. The 0.78" thickness is also very suitable for the thickness of my keyboard. The product gets 5 stars because it is accurately represented and this is entirely down to personal preference, but something about this rest that I don't love is the degree of incline. I have my keyboard up on the kickstands, and the wrist rest that I already owned slopes pretty dramatically starting from the middle, so it follows the angle of the keyboard. The ZQL wrist rest is about 75% flat and then has a small slope that rounds off on the bottom edge. Again, this is very much a personal thing; I just brought it up because it's something that people might not think too much about until they actually use it. I think this rest would be great for anyone with very large hands, or with a flat keyboard. It's taking a little getting used to for me, but I really enjoy the smoothness and obvious quality of the wood. A wrist rest is an ergonomic must when it comes to thicker keyboards.
