The bushcraft knife is the quiet hero of the outdoors, a compact, do-it-all fixed blade refined over generations by woodsmen, trappers, and survivalists. Where larger blades chop and heavy tools split, the bushcraft knife handles the precise, everyday work of the wild: carving, feathering tinder, preparing food, and crafting camp tools. Its balanced size and controllable blade made it the most trusted companion in any pack.

As craftsmanship advanced, makers began forging these field knives from Damascus steel and pairing them with warm natural wood handles and brass fittings. The result blends old-world pattern-welding with the practical, time-tested bushcraft form. This handmade Damascus field knife carries that heritage forward a dependable working blade with genuine collector's character.

Introduction

This Handmade Damascus Bushcraft Field Knife is built to be your go-to companion in the field. Measuring 8 inches overall, its drop-point Damascus blade pairs flowing layered steel with a warm wood handle and a polished brass bolster for both performance and classic good looks. Compact and balanced, it's made for real outdoor work and easy carry.

Full-tang construction runs the blade steel through the entire handle for strength and reliability. It belongs to our bushcraft knives collection, where each blade is hand-forged and finished so no two are exactly alike. For another wood-handled option, the Damascus Hunting Knife with Wooden Handle makes a fitting companion.

Blade

The blade is forged from genuine pattern-welded Damascus steel, its flowing layered pattern a structural result of folding and forging the steel rather than a surface etching. The versatile drop-point profile keeps the tip controlled and strong with a useful belly for slicing the ideal all-around bushcraft shape. Hardened to a working range, it holds a keen edge through carving, food prep, and field tasks.

Handle

The handle is crafted from natural wood and fitted with a polished brass bolster, giving the knife a warm, classic look and a secure, comfortable grip. Wood offers a balanced, tactile feel that many bushcrafters prefer for all-day use. Fitted to a full-tang frame, the handle delivers strength and balance while developing character with age and use.

Uses

This Damascus bushcraft knife is a versatile field workhorse: ideal for carving and feathering tinder, food prep, crafting camp tools, general utility cutting, light field dressing, and everyday outdoor tasks. Its balanced 8-inch size makes it easy to control and carry, while the Damascus blade and wood handle also make it a handsome collector's piece and a memorable gift for campers, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Care Instructions

Damascus steel rewards simple, regular care. Hand-wash and dry the blade immediately after every use, never put it in a dishwasher. Apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil every few weeks to protect the steel from moisture and rust and keep the pattern crisp. Treat the wood handle occasionally with oil to preserve its grain, store the knife in its leather sheath away from humidity, and sharpen on a whetstone as needed.

FAQs

What is the overall length and blade style of this Damascus bushcraft knife?

This bushcraft knife measures 8 inches overall and features a drop-point Damascus blade, the most versatile bushcraft profile, with a controlled tip and useful cutting belly. The compact, balanced size makes it easy to handle for carving, food prep, and everyday field tasks while staying convenient to carry.

What makes a bushcraft knife good for camping and general outdoor field use?

A bushcraft knife is sized and shaped for the precise, everyday work of the outdoors carving, feathering tinder, food prep, and crafting camp tools rather than heavy chopping. Its controllable drop-point blade, balanced feel, and full-tang strength make it the most useful all-around blade in a camp or pack.

Is the wood handle and brass bolster durable enough for hard camp use?

Yes. The natural wood handle offers a secure, comfortable grip that bushcrafters prefer for all-day use, while the brass bolster adds balance and durability. Fitted to a full-tang frame, the handle stands up to hard camp and field use, and a periodic light oiling keeps the wood protected and looking its best.

Is the Damascus blade on this bushcraft knife genuine pattern-welded steel?

This gives the blade excellent edge retention and toughness, making it a true working field knife as well as a showpiece.

Does this handmade Damascus field knife include a fitted leather sheath?

Yes. Every knife ships with a hand-stitched genuine leather sheath fitted to its blade. It protects the Damascus edge from moisture and impact while keeping the knife secure and ready to carry on camping trips, hikes, and bushcraft outings.

Slow, sorry but good
Format: Kindle
This was a slow moving book. Lots of character pov chapters, lots of superfluous descriptions and endless courtly appearances stalled this book to start. Once you get into the heart of the story, it takes off. Before you know it the book is done. My favorite character is Reyna. She is so strong. She is true to herself. She gets into a lot of trouble with her headstrong ways but it's entertaining. I have high hopes for Lorcan. He is honorable to a fault. Thane had turned out to be better than I thought but i still don't like him. Eislin is useless. Great plot twists at the end. I'm looking forward too book 2.

Very detailed! Beautiful world building! Strong Heroine!
Format: Kindle
Starts off a little slow and confusing with different POV’s, but starts to all come together towards the middle to make an elaborate plot line and makes it all worth it. Beautiful world building and attention to detail as well as great writing. The cliffhanger was gut wrenching! Can’t wait for the next book!

Interesting
Format: Kindle
This was a very captivating book once you got into it thoroughly. But the third person perspective was a bit hard to get used to. But as you got into it and followed the different characters, it was interesting and filled with intrigue, conflict and forbidden love. I can’t wait to read the next one and to complete the series.

OUTSTANDING
Format: Kindle
This was very, very good. The world is vast and characters are complex. There is a good plot with a whole lot going on. This is well written. Good twists and turns and some heart breaking moments. You will love these characters, they have heart and loyalty. I am hoping that there will be several more books. We've yet to see anything from the Sea Court but only a mention of them here and there. The Wood Court was given a quick couple of scenes, and only as far as some warriors, we've yet to enter their court and the Shadow Court, I'm not sure if they will be a force for good or bad, but they definitely will play a much bigger role moving forward. This is primarily the Ice and Air Courts. Told in multiple views, which I loved, it gives you a chance to see things from different eyes. There's alot of political maneuvering and deception. I loved it and will pick up the next book as it becomes available. If you like The Fae and the courts, you should love this. I think the author has mucn in store for us.

Definitely worth the read!
Format: Kindle
After taking a deep breath and taking in that wicked twist of an ending, I have finally composed myself. My first thought when I started this book was that I love Reyna's character. I was intrigued by her connection with her familiar and the Ruin that is plaguing her land. It came as no surprise that she took her sister's place in an attempt to protect her. When they reach the Air Court everything slows down. This is where it was iffy for me. First of all, I like multiple POV's in books however 7 is a bit much. It starts to interrupt the story line. I felt like I was finally making progress connecting with one character, then it was switched to another person. I felt they all had necessary or pertinent information but not necessarily were they all POV worthy. The only other thing that annoyed me was that Reyna constantly was " trapped." She would rush off without thinking, only to need rescuing. She is brilliant in a fight, but she really doesn't think through anything. Lorcan is amazing. I know he might be on the "bad" list, but his background is so interesting. Eislyn(Reyna's sister) is really so sweet, but calculating. I enjoyed her and Thane's dialogue. The author did an amazing job with the imagery in this book. Everything was so detailed it was easy to fall into the scene. I love unexpected twists and while part of the ending I expected, I wasn't expecting how it took place. All in all, I found it very entertaining and I am very invested in continuing this series. Favorite quotes: "The truth may be twisted but never false." "Who was she if she was not the enemy of the Air Court? What was her purpose of she no longer has that?" "In a war-torn land, love was always a lie."
