We tapped into everything we’ve learned from years of making the highest quality carbon full-suspension bikes and added the super-efficient Superlight™ suspension to make a World Cup-winning XC race bike. The Blur isn’t guaranteed to make you a race winner but being the lightest, full-suspension carbon XC bike we’ve ever made, it might be the difference between claiming first place...or just crossing the line.

FEATURES:

  • SRAM Eagle Transmission - stronger, better shifting, wirelessly: The next generation SRAM Eagle Transmission specced on our CC-carbon models is a radically robust, fully integrated and interdependent wireless transmission. Built around the universal constant of the wheel axle itself, the Full Mount hangerless attachment creates a far stronger connection to the frame and the super strong derailleur provides unprecedented strength. Shifting under load is made possible due to a combination of X-SYNC technology and cassette mapping, creating seamless shifts even during your hardest power output. The new AXS Pods are extremely ergonomic and highly customizable, so shifting gears is light and intuitive. It's simply the most advanced transmission and nearly as tough as the mountain itself.
  • XC or TR: The TR builds feature more travel (115mm rear, 120mm front) slightly beefier tires (Maxxis Rekon), a full height adjust dropper post, no lockout remote, and larger brake rotors. It's not a trail bike, it's a XC bike for certain courses.
  • Light Carbon Frame: The full-suspension Blur is lighter than most pre-race dinners you'll eat - 289g saving over previous generation.
  • Geo to match: The Blur's chainstay length is matched to frame size so every rider, no matter their height, gets the same balanced geometry and bike fit.
  • Two water bottles: Two water bottle mounts within the front triangle mean there's enough juice (or whatever electrolytes you choose) to keep the engine running.
  • No proprietary gubbins: There's no fiddly proprietary parts that could leave you stranded in a Cape Epic or Breck Epic campsite.
  • Made to last many lifetimes: The legendary Santa Cruz fit, finish and quality construction put this into a league of its own. The frame, bearings and optional Reserve wheels come with a lifetime warranty and any service is easy to do with our Rider Support pledge.
  • Chainguide: The only thing you'll be dropping is your competitors

Merits the Five-Star Ratings
Format: Paperback
Barney “Scout” Mann and his wife “Frodo” host many prospective Pacific Crest Trail thru-hikers, at their home, and shuttle them to the trail to start their trek. Scout is a Triple Crowner having hiked the Pacific Crest, Continental Divide and Appalachian Trails and has been very active as a volunteer, serving as a board member and in various capacities for several trail organizations. This eminence translates into a great number of five-star reviews: yet, this account merits them. Journeys North is about the author’s PCT thru-hike in 2005. It predates “Wild” and the resultant explosion in the trail’s popularity. The book focuses on the Mann’s and several hikers, who move north, in their proximity. There is considerable background and detail given about these characters, which enhances the readers appreciation of their trip. This balances with sufficient description about the trail and the hike making Journeys North a captivating and unique read among trail narratives. In the final chapters, the trekkers are buffeted and challenged by early season blizzards. Forced out of the snowbound high mountains, Frodo, Scout and their group improvise a low land route to complete their walk. With numerous of characters, the bouncing around and referencing of prior information can be confusing to the reader. There’s some heartwarming tales. The author describes an anonymous benefactor who provides two out-of-funds youngsters a considerable amount of money allowing them to continue towards Canada. The reader doesn’t learn whether the pair completes their journey; but that was a truly generous act, Barney. Journeys North transcends the trail in its portrayal of the human condition and the adversity and challenges that we confront in life. The book validates the camaraderie and caring that develops among hikers and the positive effect the PCT can have on changing lives. Well done.

A Vivid Account of Gallant Thru-hikers
Format: Kindle
This book a little confusing at first since he is telling the story of several hikers at once. So keeping them all straight takes some effort. The actual description of the hike, the challenges and all the people along the way does make for fascinating reading. I personally, have great respect for those who attempt this formidable hike. They truly deserve our respect. I don't think you could be disappointed reading this book.
