Das RAO AVIO ist ein Überlebensmesser, das als kompaktes Feldmesser mit einer starken und schweren Klinge eine besonders sichere Verriegelung aufweist.

Die extra Sicherung der Klinge erfolgt über einen Stahlstift, der mit der Hand durch zwei Löcher in der Schutzzone des massiven Aluminium-Griffs geschraubt wird. Diese zusätzliche Sicherung ist aufgrund der besonderen Belastung notwendig, der dieses Messer in seinem Einsatzgebrauch ausgesetzt ist.

Die Messerscheide ist ein wesentlicher Teil dieses Messer-Systems. Sie erlaubt dem Benutzer, das Messer im offenen Zustand an einem Clip bzw. Band zu tragen. Die Scheide kann dank Molle-System an Gürteln oder der Ausrüstung befestigt werden.

Die Scheide hält das Messer in einer offenen Position, sodass ein häufiger Gebrauch erleichtert wird.

Das zugehörige Survival Kit in grüner Scheide beinhaltet: Signalpfeife, Faltsägeblatt, Wasserreinigungs-Tabs, Kompass, Kupferdraht, Feuerstein, Mini-Taschenlampe, 2,5 m Lanyard, Diamantschärfer. Es kann dank MOLLE-System an der Messerscheide oder an der Weste befestigt werden.
