Standort: Cattleya maxima wächst epiphytisch, gelegentlich lithophytisch in Höhenlagen von 10 bis 1500 Metern in jahreszeitlich sehr trockenen Küstenwäldern
Anmerkungen: Cattleya maxima kann 3 - 15 stark duftende Blüten hervorbringen. Das Farbspektrum
reicht von weiß über blaßrosa bis tief rotviolett. Die großblütigen Typen (>15cm) tragen meist weniger Blüten als die kleinblütigen Arten (<12cm). Die Blütenfärbung hängt stark vom Tag/Nacht Temperaturunterschied ab. Je größer der nterschied ist, umso farbintensiver sind die Blüten.
